Last week with my team at Trovit we have created a mascot for our team. It is Gavi:Gavi As we have a vector file with it, I’ve modified it a little bit to build the teddy.

Parts of Gavi

Then I’ve printed it and cut with a scissor.

Then I marked the fabric in the shape of the different parts of Gavi.

With a scissor I cut the fabric leaving a margin to be able to sew the parts.

With some nails I fixed the two parts together and saw them.

After saw all the parts, I turned it inside out and fill it with cushion filler.

After drawing with a pen the eyes and some details, I saw together all the parts.

The final result is:

Microwave popcorn with a KO microwave http://www.nestor.cat/microwave-popcorn-with-a-ko-microwave/ http://www.nestor.cat/microwave-popcorn-with-a-ko-microwave/#respond Sat, 31 Jan 2015 20:15:21 +0000 http://www.nestor.cat/?p=246 palomitas
Today I had this sad situation, and I didn’t want to go to the supermarket to buy “normal” corn. As my microwave is going to be broken for some time, I have decided to use the microwave corn to cook it in the traditional way, with a pan.

Some years ago I had the same situation with some friends and in that occasion we used only the corn. We broke the paper package and threw the corn to the pan (and cook them as normal corn).

Today I have decided to try a new way, what would happen if the all the paper package was cook with a pan (like with the microwave)?

So I have tried it!

After 4 minutes, some corn have started to open, but it has been much more slowly as the normal method.

Some minutes later, almost 8 minutes since the beginning, a suspicious smoke started to appear from the paper, so I’ve decided to stop the experiment. Here you can see a fast video of the experiment.

The result has been a popcorn bowl, with less popcorns that the result of cooking the same pack with a microwave 🙁 . But I’ve to say that the popcorns were great!

The problem has been that the pan has not survived the experiment, and has ended at the rubbish.

DIY: GoPro tripod support http://www.nestor.cat/diy-gopro-tripod-support/ http://www.nestor.cat/diy-gopro-tripod-support/#respond Sun, 04 Jan 2015 19:22:59 +0000 http://www.nestor.cat/?p=161

Material you need: IMG_0578
Tools:
  • Hammer
  • Drill
  • Saw
  • Pencil
  • Wood drill bit (6 mm)
  • Wood sandpaper
  • Rasp
1. If your piece of wood is larger than 50mm x 35mm, cut it to fit this size.
2. Using the GoPro mount, draw with the pencil the shape of the mount over the wood. IMG_0579IMG_0580
3. Using the saw and the rasp, cut the shape of the mount. And make it smooth with the sandpaper. 4. Mark the center of the wood and make a hole with the 6 mm drill bit. IMG_0587IMG_0588
5. Place the tripod nut in the hole using the hammer. You can make bigger the hole to fit the nut with the rasp or any other tool. With the hammer, hit heavily the nut,
Important: avoid to make the hole as large as the nut, it must be smaller. You can make it a little bigger to make easier to fit the nut with the hammer. But the nut MUST not be able to fit inside easily (the GoPro won’t stay above the tripod in that case). IMG_0590 IMG_0591
6. Put the GoPro mount at the opposite side of the tripod nut. IMG_0593
Using the same method you can build other type of supports. For example, I’ve done one with a screw to attach the GoPro to a lot of different surfaces.
